I can feel the Force; but not in Google’s ebook store.
They somehow managed to loose their mojo, i.e. “search engine functionality”.
In first picture there is a result to “Eugene Ionescu” query (not “Ionesco”). You can see on the second position “The Paltinis Diary” by Gabriel Liiceanu. So far, so good! But there is no possible correlation between the query and this very result!
The bad follows: if you search for “Gabriel Liiceanu” as an exact match of the previous query result, you get this:
Viber – free calls, if you can!
I’ve been playing with Viber for 24 hours now. As you can see in the above link, Gruber finds its goods and bads, from marketing and user experience point of view.
And he’s right, given one condition: this damn thing to actually work!
The “hi” and “bye” commands are misinterpreted by the server, so you are either able to call once then wait for 30 mins till the server times out, or you never get to have the call through.
Six years ago Wikipedia started with a radical idea. That’s true. I ain’t promising you nothing extra. I’m just giving you life and you’re giving me life. And I’m saying that men can live together without butchering one another.
Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. ‘Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win.
There is no decent Blogger (Google’s) app for iPhone.
I have paid some 10$ just for trailing bullshit, out of some 80 apps related to Blogger / Blogspot.
The only app close to decent is Blogium, but it’s 1 year old, no fast app switching, no video posting, no multiple images upload, no HTML editing… And this is what you can hardly call “decent”!
There’s a false war going between Apple’s and Android’s fanboys (it doesn’t really matter you don’t call yourself this way).
Apple has “user experience” as mantra. For Jobs the customer is a spoiled child, but a child who deserves his attention and his best efforts. Therefore, he strives hard to deliver what he thinks it’s best for this child, even when from the appearances it may look the other way around.
Look, this WILL BE the newest multimedia Nokia, N86 (release date – 2011?), 12 MP camera
(via Engadget)
And this is something Nokia forgot way before they’ve launched it, N85 (release date – 2008):
(via GSMARENA)
If you think it’s a bit odd, you’ll never expect Nokia to release something like this in 2012:
(Still, this last one over here is not a joke if you just try to think, say, Linux…)
I used to think that choosing between OSes from GUI perspective is more like choosing colors, that is, a matter of preference. I mean, take a look:
Mac OS X (via MondayNote)
And Windows 7:
So far, I was right; it really is just a matter of preferences if you only consider the interface and don’t think about functionality at all.
Till iOS:
Now, if you think of it, the desktop OSes are filled with bloatware and false functional layout.
People are crying over this change Apple has done to iPad – the lock switch became a mute switch.
It’s almost an “ergonomic disaster”, if you listen (http://www.cultofmac.com/dear-apple-i-want-screen-lock-back-on-the-ipad-switch-poll/71083).
On the other hand, what if Jobs has thought about removing all the physical buttons from iPad 2? How on Earth would you be able to detach yourself from this sensorial habit AND like the new gadget in the same time?
We’ve been seeing this every day in our children behavior: they love their special toy, so they cry hard when you ask them to leave it at home.
Were I an Apple hater, I’d say: “This is outrageous! She’s on Jobs’ payroll”, without realizing how stupid that might sound! http://rss.cnn.com/~r/fortunebrainstormtech/~3/XyT5Ct0u9Ys/
PatentlyApple wrote Apple was granted (already!) a patent regarding a secondary connector for landscape mode. TUAW found this a bit redundant There’s a trick one friend of mine used to say: what’s barking, has four legs and a tail but it ain’t a dog? The bitch.
This isn’t either a charging connector, nor a redundancy; this is a bitch!
Just think!
Gruber smartly puts it: “But the big picture is that Apple has created a virtuous circle. People who buy one Apple product and like it tend to start buying more Apple products.” (http://daringfireball.net/linked/2010/11/24/changewave-macbooks )
It’s like try one & buy more! I love the virtuous circle, it’s the opposite of what Microsoft has been doing all those years.
This is the essence of changing everything, from perception to consumption; actually this is the essence of an optimum learning curve, but I don’t wanna be rude…
I’d take a guess and say that 2 or 3 percents in these tables could make a huge difference. Imagine what their answers would be if you put iPhone users switch to Android and vice-versa, then ask them what they feel. Only then should you do a delta. We knew about this partnership for some time, but I can’t help it: how on earth could they have chosen worse?!

Ipad won the first place in technology, which was kinda obvious. But you’ll never guess who came the second?
An iPad exclusive app!! Flipboard!
I don’t wanna be mean, so I’m not… wait: that’s the fifth place! Hmmm…
Below there are some tips on how to increase your iPhone’s battery life, posted by TiPb. I cannot agree more on desperate solutions to keep the thing alive for an extra urgent task. Still!
Don’t take these tips too serious if you’re a heavy user (and we all know most iPhone users are actually heavy users)! Because listed below are not only the best battery preserving tips, but also the death of a passion.
Facebook unveils e-mail, the sequel
chipotle:
I believe last year this was called “Google Wave.”
On the other hand, Google Wave failed in its concept, mainly because the commercial product got cluttered and vague. Facebook may have better premises and better marketing.
I also hope FB to care more about their users than their technologies…
