Subject: Macs running Steam are more powerful than PCs, on average http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/10/macs-running-steam-are-more-powerful-than-pcs-on-average/ “Whereas the majority of Windows PCs have 2GB or 3GB of memory, 53 percent of Macs sport 4GB of RAM” Maybe you should have tested 2 systems having the same architecture, shouldn’t you?! Nothing about the OS related differences?!

Norton releases Security for Android

http://androidandme.com/2010/06/news/norton-releases-smartphone-security-beta-app-for-android/ “Norton Smartphone Security provides Android users the ability to remotely lock and wipe their device in the event their phone is stolen, Norton-strength protection against malware, and the ability to screen calls from unwanted callers.” Symantec found a new business! Maybe they’ll not f*** it up as they’ve done with their main one…

Hacking the iPad

Possible Apple’s commercial errors that lead to such a high rate of iPad hack: 1. Initial international appstore release, not only U.S., would have made possible for outside U.S. customers to actually use the device (having full apps content available) as it was, instead of being forced to go for Installous. 2. iPad apps price set lower from the beginning, instead of 2-10 times higher than iPhone’s; that discouraged a lot of people and made everybody either wait for price decrease or go for Installous

38% of the all iPads have to be hacked

http://metrics.admob.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/AdMob-Country-Data-April-2010.xlsx There are lots of ipads outside official countries. Which means almost all of them have been hacked, as in April Apple had only the main AppStores up, which meant no access of any type to apps from outside U.S.. Is that 38 % of outside U.S. ipad Internet signatures all from hacked iPads?!

Apples in the clouds

TechCrunch was writing back in 2009 about the main concerns of Apple moving iTunes to the cloud: 1. Security “Now, this idea is so obvious that it has to be coming, right? Well, there are obviously some concerns as well. First, security. The music labels and television and movie studios would want assurances from Apple that no one could “game the system” and get access to content for free. With iTunes in the cloud, Apple would likely have to partially rework the 5 computers-at-a-time system for iTunes that it uses right now (for DRM content), but something similar would probably be intact.

Skype wants video calls over iOS 4 too

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/IntoMobile/~3/HmK0pJzBTD4/skype-wants-some-video-chatting-action-for-iphone-4.html “Still, if we haven’t seen a friend or loved one in a long time, does it really matter if the quality isn’t perfect? What’s more important to you – being able to make the video call and getting a glimpse of your baby boy or wife, or doing so only under the most optimal and perfect conditions only?” I’ve seen this before; it’s called “crappy video call over 3G” and had zero addoption rate for exactely such a crappy quality.

TechCrunch's Editor To Buy iPhone 4

Source: Arrington To Buy iPhone 4 http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/hmTUSGsqkbA/ “TechCrunch editor Michael Arringtonhas made it very clear that he’s an Android fanboy. Hell, he may have started the movement (which is now rivaling iPhone fanboydom). And yet, according to a source close to the situation, he plans to buy an iPhone 4 when it launches on June 25. How good is the source? Well, it’s Arrington himself.” Wow, imagine what a big favor Michael is doing buying a star trek technology for a few benjamins…

AdMob CEO says Apple...

AdMob CEO says Apple’s iOS terms are not in best interest of consumers http://feeds.appleinsider.com/click.phdo?i=67ffeb32a8ae017cbd377974bd4fbf01 “Let’s be clear,” he continued. “This change is not in the best interests of users or developers. In the history of technology and innovation, it’s clear that competition delivers the best outcome. Artificial barriers to competition hurt users and developers and, in the long run, stall technological progress.” This is new: Jobs hurting technology thru his innovations… Right!

Facebook beats Google

http://mashable.com/2010/06/08/social-network-stats/ Is this a company success or just a small change in trends? I’d say the second, as Google search becomes more of a “simple search”, while Facebook socialization more of a cool-farming-chatting web-based option.

Guess what's this about 2

“Visual Voicemail on xxxxx is still the biggest breakthrough in voicemail since, well, voicemail. It lets you view all the messages you’ve received and select the one you want to hear first — just like email. So instead of listening to messages in the order they were received, you can go directly to the messages that are most important to you. To return a call, just tap the Call Back button.

Guess what's this about...?

“Follow the thread. You can organize your messages by thread — a chain of replies in an email conversation. Mail can quickly identify all the messages in a thread by grouping them together under the most recent message, sorted by date and listing the number of messages. So it’s easy to keep track of an entire email conversation.” Guess where can you find this text and what is it about!

On iPad fratricidal sins

Yesterday’s Inquirer’s Nick Farell made me think some of the Americans are stupid and sold to devil as well. This guy made his suppositions around the idea of iPad being a threat to its brothers Mac Books and iPhones, mainly because Steve Jobs himself wrongfully chose to position his newest child as an universal replacement of everyday machines we need. In other words, instead of competing against notebooks and net books, it’s more than clear that iPad is competing against its brother brands because iPad is replacing everything…
