Coyote Tracks: There can be more than one
Louis Gray wrote a blog entry a couple weeks back that got some link love
called “Why I Turned in My iPhone and Went Android.” It’s a
nicely-written piece, and in a comment on the entry I commended him for making
a case for Android that doesn’t come down to, “Well, it’s not from Apple,…
No mobile OS supremacy
Apple’ cash vs Microsoft’s cash
Horace Dediu at Asymco says Apple, most probably, will use the money for re-investments than large acquisition or paying dividends.
Apple launches cloud-like service below the radar
Maybe they really had a strong reason to keep their mouths shut. See the link in the title.
I came to the conclusion I hate the apps that don’t know any way of sharing the information.
Quick example: Wikipanion
Whatever you may find using this app, you’ll never be able to tell somebody the exact location of the paragraph, nor will you have a way of tweeting, posting, or any kind of sharing you might want.
It’s like a thing with eyes but no hands.
I find hard to understand how a company that makes FaceTime, Retina display and iPhone 4’s design can bare providing such an anachronism as Mobile Me – in terms of functionality, interoperability, interface, structure – you name it. In 2010.
Actually, “me.com” is nothing more than a simple (remote) backup and storage tool that lacks ergonomics and costs premium.
I must admit I don’t know Mobile Me dev history, but I bet no one cares about its past evolution.
School reads kid’s text messages, Dad sues for $7.5 million
Dad says: “I remember back when hot coffee was spilled in the McDonald’s law suit. They were awarded $4.5 M. I said you know, I guess a constitutional right is worth at least $4 M today. It is worth at least a cup of coffee.”
That’s why I love America!
Stefan Constantinescu ranted beautifully against Nokia demo movies made entirely, pixel by pixel on a computer. During my 1.5 years at Nokia I saw many of these concept videos shown. They’re made by pixel pushers as a goal, an ideal, of what the company wants to achieve. The reality is that these dreams rarely, more like never, make the transition into the real world.
Then I remembered the horror… I had one friend of mine working for hours at a paper N97 model just to make fun of me being SOOOO eager to get my hands on it… One month later I was literally crying of despair in front of a total unresponsive GUI and so on.
Me: “If you want to stay over night at your grandmother’s, you need to be certain you don’t change your mind at 1 AM because you’ve been forgetting something”
My 5 year, Ema: “OK, I’m sure I won’t change my mind”
Me: “OK then, don’t you need your precious teddybear or some Barbie?”
Ema: “No. But I need the iPad”
My wife: “I’m sorry dear, the iPad doesn’t leave the house, it’s not a toy”
Do #iPhone4s suffer from death grip internationally?
No, they don’t. Europeans seem happy with it, except from Bluetooth issues.
Mashable hopes for Mobile Safari extensions
“Although Apple hasn’t made any announcements about the mobile extensibility of Safari Extensions, the fact that extensions are built in HTML and CSS means that it is at least conceivable that extension support could hit Mobile Safari.”
I hope for that too.

Norway says #iPhone antenna issue is America only
This isn’t something new if you consider the logistics behind European iPhone 4 deployment.
Google says China blocks them unintentionally
Yesterday Google was saying China commits a sacrilege by blocking them. Today Google thinks it’s a tech issue. Tomorrow Google might think it’s better blocked and censored as long as the Chinese government pays for that…
Hero of Sparta 2 for iPhone 4
Not cheap (6.99 $), but I love Gameloft and they put retina support in it.
Parrot AR drone preorders
Christmas is on the way…!
Ballmer about iPad – take 002
Maybe this guy should keep his mouth closed next time. Both Microsoft and Nokia have always something to say, no matter they should better shut up…
I’ve moved my blog with Tumblr today. Not an easy job, I can tell you that!
Thing is WordPress is a very inert, from statics support to mobile friendly editing interface.
The last drop towards this change was the Tumblr app for iPhone. Each time I’ve been posting from WordPress app – huge pain in the ars!: sluggish, unadapted, poor on resource handling, very limited multimedia support and so on.
I have switched to Tumblr 😀
Just a small an’ quick exercise:
In the image above there are 2 phones compared. I have edited the image so you can’t tell the distinctive specifications of each of the phones.
What I can tell you for sure is this:
1. Both phones are available unlocked
2. Both phones record HD videos. The left one has a 7 MP camera, the right one has a 5 MP camera.
How about that…?!

Declaring iOS jailbreak legal today made the entire web shout “Freedom, at last, kill the dictator!”.
What everybody missed is that freedom from straps in a looping fighter jet is not necessarily a good thing, while the “dictator” might as well be the pilot.
How democratic do you think the developers are feeling right now? What about the musicians? Or the film makers? Or the ebook publishers?
Where did you guys hear the evolution could be democratic?
Let’s summarize:
“allow owners of used cell phones to break access controls on their phones in order to switch wireless carriers.” “no basis for copyright law to assist Apple in protecting its restrictive business model.” That’ll be mobile OSes
“allow people to break technical protections on video games to investigate or correct security flaws.” That’ll be video games
“allow college professors, film students and documentary filmmakers to break copy-protection measures on DVDs so they can embed clips for educational purposes, criticism, commentary and noncommercial videos.
