(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has signed an agreement to make Google the standard search provider for the web’n’walk mobile internet portal. The agreement covers all Telekom markets across Europe… Google is moving towards operators with integrated search and ads. This is not the first big telco signing such a contract with Google.
“SMALL CHANGE”
Why the revolution will not be tweeted.
by Malcolm Gladwell

(got replied at GigaOm by Liz Gannes

Gladwell’s main idea is social networks are not making nor are they a catalyst of a social values change. Which is right, so far. But, he also says that’s a bad thing, compared to real bonds in real society. Which is wrong.
Also, a derived topic Gladwell follows is a comparison of twitter network to human (mass) relation.

Some days ago when the rumors of a video chat enabled Yahoo messenger escaped the web, it seemed that Yahoo was going to compete with Fring, Qik and others offering video over IP, in Market and AppStore.
Well, one of Yahoo’s main assets (or what’s left of it) is a still very large base of users. In some countries, like Romania, there’s a 90% Yahoo penetration over Hotmail, Gmail and other public mail & messenger services.
Everybody has seen Kindle’s commercial showing off Kindle’s benefits under direct sunlight conditions compared to iPad. This morning a SmokingApples saying the opposite post struck me: “The Kindle may put the iPad to shame in bright sunlight, but for me a time convenient for reading is usually found in a dimly-lit surrounding” .
I’ve checked my apps in all my iOS devices: iBooks, Kindle app, Stanza and guess what? All of them are adapted to low light conditions!
Would this allow News Publishers to make money from online subscriptions? I guess if the answer is “no”, then nothing would.

How about that type of investment!
iBooks most popular free app in US in Q3
“iBooks (Apple App Store for iPad, by Apple) was the most popular free application for mobile in the US in Q3” Americans might read!
Financial Times: Sistemul de sănătate din România este muribund
De ce mi se pare la fel de potrivit un titlu in FT: “Sistemul de învățământ din Romania este muribund” ?!

What do you say, would that be catchy?
NPD: Early iPad adopters more satisfied, active than recent buyers
“The NPD Group revealed this week that customers who bought an iPad at launch are extremely satisfied with the device and use it quite often, but more recent purchasers are less active with their tablet.”
Isn’t it the same with any new device in the market?! Isn’t it an early adopter’s characteristic to be more active than the rest of the customers?
“Aqua Globs HD” has a reported 50% piracy rate in OpenFeint logins
TUAW says:
“Still, the app in question is $1.99 — that’s hardly breaking the bank. It’s disappointing to see that even with all of the authentication and verification built in to a platform like the App Store, piracy is still a significant issue.”
It’s stupid though to think AppStore is responsible for pirated apps. It’s about Cydia, not AppStore.
Prin cupoane valorice (“gift cards”) emise in US.
Detalii aici.
How good is Google in handling stress?!
Well, the second sign has been revealed: Google permitted the removal of Oracle related results in Google search.
This is, willingly or not, an extremely dangerous proof of concept: Google can raise or ruin any imperium it wills, all by itself and based on its own will.
This is a second time things become visible. A much more subtle action Google took against Apple on antenna gate occasion.
Orange Romania a inceput sa faca aplicatii pentru AppStore cu “Orange Film”.
Aplicatia e un “nice to have”, iar pentru fanii inraiti ai serviciului e un “must have”.
The other day Stephen Hawking was saying the only way for humanity to avoid total destruction is to learn how to expand outside Earth.
It’s funny how the entire online press took this as a morbid pessimism; it’s like a kid who’s parents warn him not to break the window or he gets punished. What would you say: is this warning pessimistic for our kid, or not? Well, the parents’ warning is pessimistic only if the kid had already broken the window, even before the warning came.
I’m back from a weekend visit at the countryside with my folks and friends. The only reliable Internet source there was mobile connection; the bad news is my operator offers only crappy EDGE in that region.
I’ve just discovered some minutes ago, coming back home (full 1 Gbps fiber over wifi + full HSPA coverage) the value of a mobile / portable device is so much dependent on its connectivity.
3 quarters of all my apps require Internet connection.

TUAW’s 5 FaceTime benefits
Very nice and useful article.
One interesting point in comments: FaceTime can also be voice only:

A lot of people are not aware of the fact that FaceTime also works without video. You don’t have to stop the FaceTime call and call the other person back if you don’t want video (anymore). Just press the Home button during a FaceTime call and you got yourself a high quality audio-only VoIP call that doesn’t use up your cell phone minutes and uses less bandwidth than a video-enabled FaceTime call.
